The second seminar of the JICA Technical Cooperation Project, Technical Assistance Project on the Development and Dissemination of Port Technical Standards, was successfully held on March 10, 2026, in Haiphong City, Vietnam, and on  March 13, 2026, in Da Nang City, Vietnam.

This technical assistance project, a four-year initiative which commenced in July 2023, aims to strengthen Vietnam’s capacity to formulate and manage national port technical standards. These seminars were organized to introduce and promote the technical standards for port facilities which have been developed through the project to date, along with a collection of design casebooks and a maintenance manuals to complement them. Invitations were sent to port authorities, design consultants, construction companies, universities, and other entities expected to use these standards once they are finalized. A total of 170 participants attended the seminars across both venues.

At the seminar, after Vice President Zang of the VIMAWA delivered opening remarks, the JICA EXPRT TEAM and their counterparts from VIMAWA provided explanations regarding the new technical standards.

Representatives from the National Institute of Maritime, Port and Aviation Technology, Port and Airport Research Institute (PARI) also gave a presentation on the latest technologies in Japanese port development. The seminar concluded successfully, with numerous questions and comments raised by the participants.
