Project
The Project for Capacity Development on Port Management Organization in Indonesia

Currently, a new port (car terminal and container terminal) is being constructed with Japanese assistance at the Patimbang district in the eastern part of the Jakarta metropolitan area. The purpose of the project is to enhance and strengthen the management capacity of KSOP (Harbor master and Port Authority Office) Patimbang, a newly established branch office of Directorate-General of Sea Transportation (DGST), which will be responsible for managing and operating this new port. The project started in March 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in February 2026. Technical cooperation is required to improve the management and operation of the port as well as the competitiveness of Patimbang Port in anticipation of the future opening of the container terminal and to contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth.
Specifically, the project aims to: 1) strengthen port management capabilities, including the introduction of port services; 2) enhance ship safety management capabilities; 3) establish a long-term maintenance management system for port facilities, including access channel; and 4) strengthen capabilities related to backup area development.
With these goals in mind, our team, in collaboration with our KSOP Patimbang and DGST counterparts, is analyzing the current situation, identifying issues, and discussing possible solutions.
