Presentation at Maritime Expert Group of APEC Transportation Working Group Meeting 41 (TPT-WG41)

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Transportation Working Group Meeting 41 (TPT-WG41) was held in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea from 26 to 29 May 2015. Mr. Makoto Mizutani (Director, 2nd Research Division) and Mr. Katsuyasu Miura (Senior Researcher) attended the meeting as representatives of OCDI.
APEC Transportation Working Group Meeting, composed of a general meeting and expert group meetings of each field, is held around once a year to promote economic development in the Asia-Pacific region by liberalizing transportation services and enhancing the safety of APEC transport systems.
Forty-three delegates from 15 economies participated in Maritime Expert Group of TPT-WG41 and discussed the achievements related to the Green Initiative, Connectivity Goals, and Capacity Building. OCDI made a presentation entitled “Alleviating Traffic Congestion around Container Terminal” as a part of Connectivity Goals, which highlighted congestion alleviation measures at the Port of Chennai where OCDI had been providing technical assistance.
The presentation raised issues concerning traffic congestion and Maritime Expert Group noted its significance in the context of maritime connectivity.
